Complete chiral resolution in a continuous flow crystallizer with recycle stream

Abstract Repeated temperature cycling of crystals from a conglomerate forming chiral substance suspended in their saturated solution has shown to be effective converting mixture both enantiomers into an enantiomerically pure state. While by now large number different setups been demonstrated, here we show for the first time how continuous flow cycler with recycle stream is capable establishing enantiopurity while racemic starting suspension. By capturing most significant parameters influencing process kinetics competitive productivity could achieved. We show, that fast crystal dissolution at high undersaturations and growth supersaturations are speeding up as long nucleation can kept minimum or avoided all. Temperature result shift towards larger sizes particle size distribution suspended, which detrimental present governed size-dependent solubility. implementing ultrasound unit recycled material was comminuted, resulting nearly stable deracemization rates.
